Matt lives close to the Essex/Suffolk Border where
he has lived most of this life.
A graduate of The
Queen's University of Belfast, Matt studied History and
Sociology. It is from such study that Matt became interested
in society and the various factors that influence and shape
the world in which we live. This gave rise to a particular interest
in politics and government and the role of research and consultancy
in these areas.
On graduating from Queen's, Matt had the opportunity
to work as a parliamentary researcher to a MP in Westminster,
London where he was able to further hone and develop his skills
and interest in the political sphere of life.
The MP Matt worked for was a Shadow Minister for
International Affairs and so he was able to gain particular
insight into global and international issues.
Since then Matt has worked as a freelance graphic
designer and website consultant, causing him to work with a
number of organisations both in the public and not-for-profit
sector.
Furthermore, he has had experience working as
a Learning Mentor in a private college, coaching and tutoring
pupils with specific learning difficulties as well as overseas
students.
Currently, Matt is working as a research consultant
to a bioethics & public policy thinktank in Westminster,
London.
Design & administration
Alongside his interests and talents in graphic
design and website design, Matt also possesses good administration
and organisation skills having worked in various administrative
roles for various organisations and charities, both in a voluntary
and paid capacity.
Interests & Hobbies
He takes a keen interest in music with a particular
interest in jazz and opera and plays both clarinet and saxophone.
Whether it's for research or simply for pleasure,
reading is something that he greatly enjoys. Aside from this,
Matt enjoys walking, cycling, design, calligraphy and digital
photography.
Leadership and team building qualities have further
been developed due to Matt's involvement with various projects
& initiatives, ranging from youth work in the UK, campus
based initiatives whilst at university and overseas missions
work in Europe and the Caribbean.
He has also attended and graduated from a Christian
ministry training school in Toronto, Canada.
An experienced speaker, Matt has spoken in a variety
of settings and is often noted for his accessible and engaging
style, backed up with helpful and inspiring visual presentations.
